I would say most of the people I interviewed with seemed to want to purchase stuff in cash and not on credit card of finance. Also a lot of people prefer to go into a store when deciding what they want to buy.  I think with alternative evaluation I can see how I have to definitely compensate in many different areas I think people do care about the money aspect but also don't want bad quality and it to be really cheap. The purchase decision I think is totally a personal preference you are going to get people that don't enjoy a certain sport so they won't buy the equipment for it. Post-Purchase evaluation helps me to see how I can have customers that will enjoy my product and make it better. I also can get my products name spread around if they like it after the fact.

  1. Gabriella,

I came across some similar results with my post-purchase evaluations as well. All of my interviewees would rather purchase things with cash over credit. Most of my interviewees shopped online and if they did go in the store, they already knew what they were going to purchase. I also agree that the purchase decision is on personal preference. I found that depending on the product and where you can get it affected the purchasing decision. Very interesting interviews, keep at it!

  2. The quality is definitely an important factor as well, but in my personal experience I usually try to find a happy medium between the two (I usually go for the highest quality cheap product over the cheapest high quality product. However when looking at post purchase I am usually happy as long as the thing doesn't break (last me a long time) as well as if it met my expectations.

  3. I agree with your interviewees on purchasing items with cash unless you are buying a big ticket item like a car or house. Also, it seems like when people do extensive research and take their time to compare products that is going to affect their post purchase evaluation positively. Great insight!

  4. Hey Gabriella,
I really enjoyed your interviews and I think you can get a lot of insight from what the interviewees said. I agree with them that I would rather pay in cash with smaller purchases. I do not feel that you have to compensate your orginal idea, rather just make adjustments to what your segment is truly looking for. I agree that quality should not have to be greatly compromised. Great job!

  5. I am always perplexed when I read that people our age want to buy things in cash. I get the sentiment about not going into debt, but if you're responsible, use pay it off every month. If you do this, credit cards give you points that you can use towards basically anything! Credit cards are also one of the easiest ways to improve bad or nonexistent credit, like almost everyone starts off with.

  6. Gabriella,

I also find from my interviews that people place a lot of value on quality and do not mind paying a little extra for it. I think people paying in cash is becoming a trend as they will not have to pay interest or go possibly go into debt. This also could have an effect of less sales as people may not have all the cash at the time to buy a product.

  7. I was a little confused when I listened to your interviews. I think it would be more natural if you spoke face to face with your interviewees and you would probably get more and better feedback. I personally hardly ever have cash on me so I tend to buy on my debit card, no matter the amount I purchase. I get paid through a diretc deposit so I never go through the physical process of cashing a check like when I was younger and didn't have a debit card, just a savings account.

  8. Gabriella! From your interviews I completely agree with the trend that if something is of greater quality, people tend to spend a little more on it. This trend is common in every aspect of the commerce world. I also think that paying cash is becoming more and more relevant. I know in my family all we use is cash or debit cards, we do not use credit cards and we do not have them. I think this method of paying for items is incredibly beneficial when it comes to being smart with your money and shopping on a budget.

  9. Gabriella,

I find it very interesting that the people you interviewed would rather use cash instead of credit to make purchases. It makes sense if you’re trying to avoid debt, but at the same time using credit for smaller purchases can have a lot of benefits. One of the best things you can do to increase your credit score is use credit for smaller purchases and then pay off the entire balance at the end of every month. A lot of credit card companies also offer rewards for using the card regularly and paying it off on time. I agree that a lot of people are willing to pay more for better quality, but like one of the other reviewers said I think a lot of people look for a happy medium between the amount they are willing to pay and the quality that they want. Great job!

  10. I personally use credit cards for the majority of my purchases no matter the amount to gain the reward points, but I have learned to be disciplined and only use my credit cards if I have enough cash to pay on the cards. As far as the factors I consider when purchasing, I definitely look at the quality. I make a lot of my purchases on Amazon and I read through all the reviews prior to purchasing a product to ensure the quality of the item. Another factor will also depend on the product itself, I will buy store brands for many items like food or necessities for the price, but if it's shoes, I am not frugal and will pay whatever the amount if I really like them :)
